The Burrel's gave "Griz" a great home in Georgia.
Doug Burrel's Testimonial:
" Dwayne's dogs are exactly what you think of
when you think Norwegian Elkhound. From
what I saw of them they love to hunt, they are
easy to handle, and are very good looking dogs."
Previous Pups
"Chance" found a great home in Wisconsin. His owner,
Tammy says that "Chance is a very smart dog and there
is never a dull moment." He is a snuggler and was
easily house-trained." She is so elated to have "Chance"

Hello Dwayne, Betsy and Storm!

Just wanted to give you a little update on how we're doing now that
Ursa is a year old...

Everything overall is going wonderful, we've gone through puppy class
and basic obedience with a trainer who works with police canines as
well as regular dogs. He has been surprised at Ursa's progress for her
age. The only thing is she is as stubborn as a mule and sometimes I
feel she is smarter than me! Maybe she just knows how to work me but
she outsmarts me sometimes either way... People always comment she
has
quite the personality and a few have called her a "pistol."

She has learned how to work her "cuteness" to her advantage. She will
sit up and beg when she wants attention or a treat. I took her to the
store for her birthday to get a special toy, she begged the girl at
the register for a snack while we were checking out and we ended up
with a crowd of about 10 people around us commenting on how "cute"
she
is. I've even had the PetSmart trainer ask me if I could show her how
to train a down to do that. I think Ursa has associated the word cute
with getting attention or snacks. It has become a four letter word
that we use with discretion now...

She has developed into a very happy, friendly dog. I think she'd try
and befriend Cujo if she met him. We go to the dog park and she has to
greet everyone dog and people alike. Mostly she likes to run, her
favorite thing is chasing the Jack Russells and if no dogs are running
she hops around them barking to try and entice them. I always feel
like the other dogs see her as that overly friendly person you see
coming down the street and you want to hide behind a bush to avoid
sometimes.

My only worry is her curiosity will get her in trouble sometimes. She
is the nosiest little thing I have ever seen. She is always looking
out the window or hopping up on the door to look out the screen. She
loves chasing moths and fireflies at night and the birds and squirrels
during the day. She also isn't afraid of anything. During
thunderstorms she tries to look out the window to see where the noise
comes from and if bigger dogs do something she doesn't like she'll go
right up and bark in their face... I eventually hope to trust her off
the leash but for now she goes out on a runner and I'm thinking about
an electric fence. She is very obedient otherwise but the bunnies and
other animals I can tell are a temptation. The trainer thinks as of
now she could pass her canine good citizen and I hope one day to have
her therapy certified so I can take her visiting in nursing homes and
hospitals. She just loves attention and people love giving it to her
so it will be very rewarding for Ursa as well as the people we visit
I'm sure...

I've attached a few pictures. We had a little birthday party for her
last Tuesday with her own doggy cake. She didn't like the party hat so
much but it made for a cute picture...

Hope all is well with you and hope to hear back from you soon!
